Join WordCamp London’s whole day Contributor event on 5 April 2019.
Just one week to go to this event and we would like to encourage even more new contributors to sign-up. Contributor Days are a great way to start or to continue contributing to the WordPress project. Everyone is welcome to play a part. You can join friendly WordPress enthusiasts from 9am to 5pm (or part of the day), and be a part of the community that makes and supports WordPress.org.
You don’t have to know how to code, as there are many different roles that need contributors. It’s easy to think of contributing to WordPress as helping write the core software, but roles include helping out in the support forums, writing documentation, organising community events, designing the interface for a new feature, user testing someone else’s improvement, or undertaking language or video translation. There are so many options to choose from, and you can do more than one.
At the beginning of the WordCamp London (WCLDN) Contribution Day, there will be an introduction from the organizer covering how the day will run, followed by introductions from the team leads. You will be able to choose the team you would like to contribute to and work alongside others on tasks and ideas. It is a friendly and sociable event and there will be plenty of people to support you. All contributions are welcome. You can move between teams if you would like to contribute in more than one route.
At the end of the day, the team leads will give a brief summary of the activities in their team. The ethos of the day is that it is a Contributor Day not a Contribution Day. So even if you think you’ve not made major significant contributions, improving your own skills or meeting new people in the community are good outcomes.
Previous WCLDN organizer, Gary Jones talks about Contribution Days and why people should get involved.
