WordCamp Guadalajara 2019 is looking for Speakers and Sponsors!

In October 26th and for the second year, the WordPress Community Guadalajara wants to celebrate it’s existence as a community, bringing this event format to the city for the first time. In the last +5 years, Jalisco has stood out not only for its traditions, mariachi and tequila, but also for the enormous technological growth that has emerged in the region, what has taken Guadalajara to be known as the “The Mexican Silicon Valley”. This has led to more and more Startups, agencies and entrepreneurs using WordPress as their preferred platform and that month after month we share knowledge through our monthly Meetups.

Side to side with Mexico City, we have grown to be the second largest Meetup and now the second largest WordCamp from all Mexico.

Connect with the Mexican community!

WordCamp Guadalajara 2019 will be held at the amazing space of MIND México expecting +200 attendees this year.

MIND is the innovation ecosystem that unites the triple helix, being the starting point of ideas and projects that involve the student, the entrepreneur and public institutions, giving rise to agreements, international alliances with technology centers, presence in leading design events, innovation and technology, as well as innovative projects that are formed from different perspectives of those involved.

MIND – México Innovación y Diseño

If you want to get to know about our traditions and our growing tech industry but most of all, get to know our warm people, don’t hesitate to apply to speak or sponsor, and please spread the word! #WCGDL

Can’t wait to meet you in Guadalajara!

¡Muchas gracias! <3

Getting Kids In Your Community Excited to Learn WordPress!

The WordPress Community events program has some awesome things going on including WordCamps, Contributor Days, do_action events, and even KidsCamps. It’s an exciting time to be involved in the WordPress community, and children are attending more camps now than ever before. But WordCamps, while family-friendly, weren’t necessarily built with kids in mind.

We want to help your local camp create a fun and inviting event for all ages. KidsCamp is a great way to do that.

If you are looking for ways to involve the kids of your community, we have a few ideas. First, hold a KidsCamp at your next WordCamp. We have resources ready to go and soon a handbook will be launched. We even have mentors that can help you get your camp off the ground in the first year. The focus of this event should be to create a self-hosted WordPress website. We even have hosting companies that have donated hosting accounts for this very purpose ready and waiting to work with you. Email kids@wordcamp.org to get your resource packet.

Another way to get kids involved is to hold kid-friendly meetups, or meetups for kids and parents. Remember, whenever children 13 and under are involved, parents need to be present with their kids. Holding a kid-friendly meetup is a great way to keep kids working on the websites they create at KidsCamp. It allows them to have accountability in the projects they are working on and surrounds them with industry leaders to look up to. Not sure about where to start? No problem! Email kids@wordcamp.org to get a resource packet and if you need one, a mentor.

As our community is slowly aging, now is the perfect time to usher in the next generation. Today kids need safe, fun places to engage and learn new skills and there is no better time than now and no better place than the WordPress community!

WordCamp for Publishers 2019 is happening soon!

WordCamp for Publishers is a community-organized event bringing together folks who use WordPress to manage publications, big or small. Our goal is to empower participants by coaching them on best practices and encourage collaboration in building open source tools for publishers. Anyone who actively manages a publication with WordPress will benefit from attending.

Schedule

Our schedule is up now and includes speakers from national media organizations, smaller publications, and agencies that work with media companies.

This year’s schedule features:

  • A hands-on workshop on security training in newsrooms
  • Two sessions on bringing Gutenberg to editorial teams
  • An in-depth guide to creating robust newsletters
  • Lightning presentations on Newspack, managing site networks, and paywalls

What You Can Expect

We’ll have a main track of talks and panels that are 45 minutes each as well as a separate track of 90 minute in-depth workshops centered around topics that aim to provide actionable takeaways for publishers to take home. There will also be openings for our popular unconference sessions which attendees can self-organize at the event based on interest.

For folks that prefer the hallway track, there will be plenty of opportunities to connect with people from top media organizations. Take a look at our sponsors and make sure to say hello and grab some swag!

Social Activities

Of course, we also offer many opportunities for socializing outside of the conference at WordCamp for Publishers. We’ve arranged several events, including an evening of fun and games at Two Dollar Radio Headquarters and an outing to a Columbus Clippers game.

If you’re able to stick around all three days, there’s also a Mentorship Day on Friday where we’ll group folks by topic and introduce speed mentorship rounds for attendees to connect with each other. This is a great opportunity for attendees to lend their expertise and learn from other talented folks attending the event.

Get Your Tickets Today!

We encourage you to check out the videos and participant recaps from the last WordCamp for Publishers in 2018 to get a sense of what’s to come. We hope to see you in Columbus in a few weeks, and if you haven’t gotten a ticket, you can still get one today

WordCamp Taipei 2019 is looking for sponsors!

This is the second WordCamp Taipei, and Taiwan community has grown a lot since last WordCamp. We used to have 3 monthly meetups in Taiwan and now we have 12! We are eager to meet with people from other regions.

WordCamp Taipei 2019 will be held on December 28th. We know it’s close to the New Year, but hear this out:

  • stay for the New Year! Tallest building Taipei 101 is well known for extraordinary fireworks and light show.
  • you won’t be hungry at nights. We have night markets in every city and convenient stores almost on every street.
  • Do you work remotely? Most of the coffee shops have Wifi and friendly working zone.
  • Taiwan is a small island, but we have big hearts!

At this moment sponsorship packages are running out quickly. Fortunately, we still have a few lefts. Our primary goal is to provide vendor spaces for all sponsors. In last year’s survey, we had feedback that attendees would like to see companies that provide WordPress managed hosting, plugins or themes as a service. However, any company which works with WordPress is welcome!
