WordCamp News

Thanks for being with us at #WCPOA2018!

Yeah, the WordCamp POA 2018 was outstanding, it was an edition of breaking records, and there were many! We sold all the tickets, we had 151 participants, which compared to the 106 participants of the previous edition is an increase of almost 50%! We just did not have more participants because the place could not stand more people than that. Of all the participants, 32% were women, and if we compare with the previous edition that were 12%, we had a great evolution, or would it be a female revolution? WordPress Girl Power!

This year’s organizing committee put a lot of effort into the preparation of the event, been in contact with the WordPress Foundation for months, and in search of sponsors, volunteers, suppliers and great content, balancing between technical and marketing issues.

In summary, all of this effort and preparation eventually surpassed the expectations of the vast majority of participants.

The increase number of attendees demonstrates that the community is growing and getting more involved with the platform and the WordPress community.

In this edition we could count with the support of national and international sponsors and here another record, there were 8 international sponsors who saw in the South of Brazil Community a good place to be present and to exhibit their mark!

In the quest to provide high level content we rely on the help of speakers who have traveled from their cities throughout several states of the country such as São Paulo, Santa Catarina, Paraná and, of course, Rio Grande do Sul.

The program was composed of 12 regular sessions and included several themes directly related to WordPress such as: development, digital marketing, systems architecture and others.

The content of the lectures was recorded on video for a total of 7 hours of recorded presentations. All recordings will also be available soon on our YouTube channel and on WordPress.tv.

Besides shared knowledge, WordCamp Porto Alegre was also a moment of networking and fun, accompanied by good gastronomy!
Check out some moments of the conference:

During the day, in social networks, more than 200 tweets were posted with the hashtag #wcpoa2018, and we had a reach of more than 12 thousand users.

The certificates of participation can be issued by clicking here, just inform the same email used in the application. If you encounter any difficulties, please contact us by email: portoalegre@wordcamp.org

During the event, we asked participants to fill in the official survey of the Porto Alegre 2018 WordCamp. So far, 12% of the participants have already answered the evaluation, with a general grade of 4.6 to a maximum of 5 (If you have not yet evaluated, there’s still time!).

Last but not least, we also need to thank with great affection the volunteers who participated in the organization and helped on the day of the event, some of them even, coming from outside Porto Alegre:

Alberto Lutz Dias
Alex Roveda
Angelito Goulart
Christian Oliveira Evangelista
Fernando Gomes de Freitas
Francisco Pedro Giraudo Muller
Guilherme Domingos
José Maurício Vieira Leite Júnior
Priscilla Mella

THANK YOU VERY MUCH for the effort and availability!

Celebrate #WP15 with WordCamp Belfast

WordCamp Belfast 2016
Following on from a successful inaugural WordCamp in 2016, WCBelfast returns this weekend.

The date for this years WordCamp co-insides with two major events in our calendar.
Firstly, GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation, EU) comes into effect on Friday 25th May.
And then of course, we have a certain anniversary to celebrate on Sunday 27th!

WordCamp Belfast joins several other WordCamp’s happening this weekend, including; Calgary, Managua, and Saint-Petersburg.
However, Belfast will be the only WordCamp happening on Sunday 27th May, the day that marks the 15th Anniversary of the first release of WordPress.

Help us celebrate #WP15

We are collecting short messages and video clips of your favourite memory of being part of the WordPress community and to mark the 15th anniversary. We would like to include messages from other WordPressers in as many different cities and countries as possible.

How to submit a video message…

The easiest way is to upload your video to YouTube, and send the link to belfast@wordcamp.org.
Alternatively videos can be shared via Dropbox or Google Drive, then send the download link to the above email address.
We can then upload it to the WCBelfast YouTube Channel.
As another alternative you can WhatsApp them to +44(0)7591087379

If we get enough videos, we can edited them all together and upload them to WordPress.tv after WordCamp.

Share your love for WordPress & the community on the 15th Anniversary.
