Tickets for WordCamp US Are Still Available!

Everyone is excited about the upcoming WordCamp US, the official annual WordPress conference, that is returning to Philadelphia for the final time on December 2-4. Not only does this event bring in WordPress enthusiasts from across North America (and the world), but it comes complete with inspirational presentations from thought leaders across our field. The annual “State of the Word” will be given by WordPress co-founder Matt Mullenweg, and if you want to grab a ticket to see all of this in person there is still time.

We’re excited to see everyone there, so keep an eye on the WordCamp US site (and/or follow the @WordCampUS twitter account) for updates as we get closer to the day!

Not able to be there in person, but don’t want to miss any of that awesome content? We’ve got you covered. There are live streaming tickets available, too!

Get your ticket for WordCamp Europe 2017

WordCamp Europe 2017 will be happening in the beautiful city of Paris, nicknamed the “City of Light”, from 15–17 June 2017. The first batch of 2,000 tickets for WordCamp Europe 2017 is on sale, with 500 already gone.

WCEU 2016 in Vienna has been a huge success, with over twice as many attendees than WCEU 2015! This surge in interest surprised a lot of us, and hundreds were left without a ticket, even after we expanded the conference to the neighbouring Leopold museum. We’re expecting the Paris event to be bigger and better than ever, and you don’t want to miss out just because you forgot to get your ticket in time.

To get your ticket, simply visit our tickets page and get your ticket today. If you’re still thinking why should you come to Paris, in this article we gave you 3 (of many) reasons to visit.

See you in Paris!

Experimenting with a Town Hall Track at WordCamp Denver

As part of building WordCamp Denver’s schedule this year,  we (the organizers) have decided to experiment with a new town hall-style track format for six of our 22 sessions. Each town hall will essentially be a 50-minute topical Q&A session.

The idea of these town halls is simple: recruit experts in a variety of fields and create an open, intimate environment in which attendees can ask questions across the spectrum of those fields; and get answers.

The six town halls we’ve created each fill a 50-minute slot and cover eCommerce, growth / marketing, development, business, community organizing, and design, respectively. Following a bit of grunt work and cajoling, we think we’ve managed to bring together some of the greatest minds in WordPress to host them.

For instance:

  • Pippin Williamson and Caleb Burks will be co-hosting the eCommerce town hall, each representing a major player in the WordPress eCommerce space.
  • Cami Kaos from WordCamp Central joining local meetup organizer Jeremy Green to host the town hall on community organizing meetups and WordCamps.
  • Jon Bellah and David Hayes will be co-hosting the development town hall, fielding questions from brand new beginning developers all the way up to seasoned professionals.
  • Sonja Leix from the WordPress design team and local UX aficianado Meg Delagrange will be co-hosting our CritiquePress town hall, which is a town hall/panel discussion hybrid we first debuted at last year’s WordCamp Denver. CritiquePress’ provides solid, real-time advice on submitted attendee websites.
  • Tracy Malone and Amber Hinds will be co-hosting the Growth / Marketing town hall, sure to be packed with useful nuggets and content marketing tips.
  • D’nelle Dowis, Miles Kailburn, and Vi Wickam will be co-hosting the business town hall, bring perspective from the freelance, small business, and agency communities.

As you can see, we’ve made a pretty good effort to make sure these town halls start off with a bang. We hope this experiment yields good results, but either way, look for a retrospective on this on the WordCamp Denver blog after the event!

WordCamp Denver is scheduled for November 5-6 and as of this writing, there were only 24 tickets left!

WordCamp Europe opens Call for Volunteers

After very successful WordCamp Europe this year in Vienna, Austria, we’re preparing the next one in Paris, France, happening from 15–17 June 2017. The one in Vienna was the largest WordCamp in the world welcoming almost 2000 attendees, that came from 68 countries – just amazing.

Everything mentioned wouldn’t be possible without volunteers. Last year 160 people volunteered to make WordCamp Europe as accessible to everyone as possible, because – every person matters. As WordCamp Europe 2017 in Paris will be even bigger, we will need a giant volunteer team for 2017. Our Call for Volunteers opened yesterday and we need your help.

Being a volunteer is a rewarding and fulfilling experience. It gives you the opportunity to meet and speak with attendees from all over the world, help out with speakers and much more. And volunteering is important because without you, the volunteers, WordCamp Europe couldn’t be as accessible as it is. As with WordPress who democratized publishing, allowing everyone to publish within minutes, WordCamps are the way we meet people and learn new things.

Become a volunteer at WordCamp Europe 2017!

WordCamp Orlando 2016 is Cancelled Due to Hurricane Matthew

On October 5th, WordCamp Orlando’s 2016 venue was issued to shut down by officials at The University of Central Florida due to the threat of Hurricane Matthew. The venue, The UCF Rosen Campus, will remain closed throughout the planned duration of our camp, therefore taking the decision to cancel out of the organizer’s hands.

The WCORL team is offering full refunds to all ticket holders up through Friday, October 14th. More information on the refunds can be found on their blog.

The team is planning on rescheduling the camp activities for another date, hopefully later this year. If that happens, all ticket holders will be notified.

Sponsors of WCORL have the option of leaving their sponsorship as-is and becoming a default sponsor of the rescheduled event, or requesting a refund from WordCamp Central. Please contact WordCamp Central for information on sponsorship refunds.
