What to Expect

If you’re thinking of attending a WordCamp or any WordPress Event, you might wonder what to expect. You’ll find an engaging mix of learning, networking, and inspiration. Expect hands-on workshops, inspiring keynotes, and interactive sessions designed for a specific audience.

It’s all about WordPress (and beyond)

Their focus is firmly rooted in WordPress, whether that’s using, building, or designing with it. Sessions also explore related topics such as content creation, design, marketing, e-commerce, development, and online business, but the bulk of the content is WordPress-specific. Events now go beyond general WordPress knowledge to include focused topics such as AI, user experience, enterprise solutions, and more, tailored to specific audiences like students, designers, professionals, or developers.

There are currently three flagship WordPress Events: WordCamp Asia, WordCamp Europe, and WordCamp US. All of them offer three to four days of high-quality keynotes and the latest trends, with more sponsors and global attendees.

Affordable and accessible for everyone

WordCamps and WordPress Events are designed to be accessible to all. The local and regional events are low-cost, community-organized gatherings that offer a lot of value for little cost—often priced around $40 or less for multi-day events. Sponsorships and donations help keep ticket prices affordable, and you’ll often find the same high-quality speakers who appear at larger industry conferences. Events are tailored to different experience levels, providing valuable opportunities to learn, connect, and grow.

WordCamps and WordPress Events operate on a tight budget, using all sponsorship and ticket funds to plan the event. If there’s any surplus, it’s reinvested in other WordPress community events by supporting ongoing meetups, future events, or local contributions to the WordPress project. Events organized for profit are not approved to use the WordCamp or WordPress Event name.

Open to all, with diverse and engaging content.

WordCamps and WordPress Events welcome everyone—users, developers, designers, and entrepreneurs alike—whether you’re just starting or you’re a seasoned professional. Events are curated for specific audiences, ensuring that you’ll gain relevant insights, whether you attend a session focused on design, development, content creation, e-commerce, or AI. Formats include hands-on workshops, presentations, lightning talks, panels, live demos, and more, making the content accessible, interactive, and relevant to the audience.

Session slides and videos are published to the WordCamp channel on WordPress.tv and the WordPress YouTube channel.

A space for collaboration and connection.

One of the main reasons people attend WordCamps and WordPress Events is to meet and learn from others. The community-driven nature of these events means you’ll have plenty of opportunities to connect with fellow attendees at networking spaces. These events often feature job boards, enabling attendees to post job openings or network with potential employers. Many attendees walk away with new partnerships, collaborations, or even career opportunities.

These new relationships can lead to exciting WordPress projects throughout the year. Ideally, every WordCamp or WordPress Event is the annual “big event” of a local WordPress meetup group. If no such group exists, a WordCamp or a WordPress Event can be a great way to kick it off.

Locally organized, globally inspired.

WordCamps and WordPress Events are organized by local communities of WordPress users, developers, and enthusiasts. While the global WordPress community provides guidance and resources, local organizers make the event their own, showcasing local speakers and talent. Whether you’re attending a flagship WordCamp like WordCamp Asia or a smaller regional event, you’ll find a mix of local and global perspectives that keep the content fresh and relevant to your interests.

Volunteers make it happen.

Each event is powered by volunteers—from the organizers who coordinate everything, to the speakers who donate their time, to the event-day helpers. It’s one of the most rewarding ways to give back to the WordPress community and the WordPress Open Source project. If you’re interested in contributing, consider volunteering at your next WordPress event. And don’t forget to thank those who helped make it all possible!

A true reflection of the WordPress project.

WordCamp and WordPress Event organizers, speakers, sponsors, and volunteers represent the WordPress community. These events are often the first impression newcomers have of the project, so we ensure that everyone involved communicates the values and guidelines that make WordPress special—respect for the open source nature of the project, inclusivity, diversity, and a spirit of collaboration.

Perks and swag (with a twist)

Many WordPress events create custom swag—like t-shirts, stickers, or other mementos—and provide food and beverages to attendees. These perks are a fun bonus but vary by event, based on the budget and the creative flair of the organizing team. Each event’s website will share what’s included with your ticket purchase.

it’s fun. seriously!

WordCamps and WordPress Events are about more than just learning—they’re fun, too! Whether you’re geeking out over WordPress, meeting inspiring people, or plotting your next big project with newfound collaborators, you’ll leave the event energized and full of ideas. Many events conclude with an afterparty where attendees can relax, connect, and celebrate together.
