About Stephen Dumba
I am Stephen Dumba, from Uganda, a high school teacher of ICT, digital-skills trainer, and a passionate member of the WordPress community with nearly two decades of experience in ICT education, digital literacy, website development, and computer technology.
Since 2007, I have been involved in teaching and mentoring learners, educators, and communities in practical technology skills. My work sits at the intersection of education, technology, and community empowerment, with a strong belief that digital skills should not only be learned but also shared.
I am the National Coordinator of the ICT Teachers’ Association of Uganda, where I advocate for ICT teachers and support professional development and the integration of technology in education. I am also the founder of the Students IT Club of Uganda, an initiative dedicated to helping students discover, develop, and apply practical ICT and digital skills.
Within the WordPress ecosystem, I am an active community organizer, trainer, speaker, and advocate for open-source technology.I use WordPress as a practical platform for teaching web development, digital entrepreneurship, content creation, and online communication while encouraging teachers, students, and aspiring digital creators to not only build but also share what they learn.
Through #1000WordPressNinjas, I have the vision of helping more Ugandans become confident WordPress users not only as creators and trainers but also contributors. My #EachOneTeachOne philosophy complements this mission by encouraging every person who gains a skill to teach at least one other person therefore turning individual learning into a growing community of knowledge.
Through the Students IT Club of Uganda, my work extends this vision to students, creating opportunities for young people to learn technology beyond the classroom, develop practical skills, explore digital careers, and support one another through peer learning and mentorship.
Whether working with WordPress communities, ICT teachers, students, or aspiring technology professionals, I am committed to strengthening Uganda's digital-skills ecosystem and empowering people to use technology not merely as consumers, but as creators, educators, innovators, and community builders.
