WordCamp Sheffield approved for pre-planning

WordPress lovers in Yorkshire, rejoice! WordCamp Sheffield is coming your way in 2014.

Lead organizer of Steel City’s inaugural WordCamp will be the inimitable Kimb Jones. If you’d like to help WordCamp Sheffield come to be, attend the local meetup (6:30pm on the 2nd Tuesday or Wednesday of every month at one of their fine venues in the center of Sheffield) or email the organizing team.

Happy New Year from WordCamp Central! 2013 was an amazing year, and we’re so excited about all the wonderful WordCamps already in planning for 2014 as well as the events that are still only the idea stage.

WordCamp Mumbai 2014 to be held March 15-16

WordPress enthusiasts in Mumbai will rejoice to hear that WordCamp returns to the City of Dreams on March 15-16 at IES Manik Sabha Griha. Lead organizers Alexander Gounder and Aditya Kane will be making their call for speakers, sponsors, and volunteers very soon. In the meantime, the Mumbai WordPress meetup meets monthly and is open to everyone.

If you already use RSS, just copy and paste https://central.wordcamp.org/wordcamps/feed/ into your aggregator.

If you’re new to RSS, you can get started by signing up for a (free) service like Feedly or NewsBlur. Or if you prefer desktop applications, check out FeedReader for Windows, NetNewsWire for OS X, and Liferea for Linux.

WordCamp Recap: London

Q4 2013 has been the season for big WordCamps in Europe. Not even the greying skies and the drop in temperature can stop WordPress aficionados from getting together to talk all things WordPress. Just six weeks after WordCamp Europe was WordCamp London, the second biggest WordCamp in Europe, and the first ever WordCamp in London.

50% of the attendees had never attended a WordCamp before so there was a good mixture of experienced WordCamp attendees and those new to experience. Overall, this helped to create a positive and excited vibe that was consistent across two days.

The event was split over two days, with day one, the conference, held at Bishopsgate Institute and day two, the Contributor Day, held at Mozilla Spaces. Bishopsgate Institute is a listed building in East London thats mixture of Arts and Crafts style with Art Nouveau and Victorian architecture reflects the eclecticism of London. It also reflected the eclecticism of the day, with developers mixing with designers mixing with writers mixing with supporter mixing with business-people.
